Welcome to the My Piccolo Mondo Childcare Handbook! We're excited to have your child join our community. Here are some important points to keep in mind: . Court Order: If there's a court order that says one parent or guardian can't see their child, I'll need a note from the custodial parent or guardian to make sure everything's above board. Without that note, I can't keep the non-custodial parent from picking up the child. Open Door Policy: Hey, you're always welcome to visit your kiddos whenever they're here with me! Just try to avoid Rest Time if possible. If you do stop by, please knock first. And if you need to call, go for it! If I can't pick up, just leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Sick/Vacation Days: If your child is feeling under the weather and needs to stay home for the day, just give me a call at least an hour before their normal arrival time to let me know. Guidance: When it comes to discipline, I like to call it guidance instead. I promise to never hit, spank, or intimidate any child in my care, even with parental permission. No corporal punishment will be used, and every child will be treated with kindness and patience. For younger kiddos, I'll just redirect their attention to something else. For older ones, we may try a timeout if necessary. If we're having any persistent behavior problems, we'll work together to find a solution. Just know that no child will ever be subjected to physical punishment, shaming, or any kind of verbal abuse. And no one will ever be punished for a bathroom accident! Meals: Don't worry about packing any snacks or meals for your child—they're all taken care of! We'll eat together as a family and use this time to chat and practice our manners. Just let me know if your child has any food allergies or needs a special diet, and we'll make it work. Activities: We'll have lots of fun activities planned throughout the day, with some wiggle room in case we need to switch things up. We'll make sure everyone gets outside for some fresh air and exercise, and we'll also have some quieter times for reading or resting. And of course, we'll make sure all activities are age-appropriate and safe for everyone. Dress Code: Your child might get a little messy during the day, so please dress them accordingly! And if we're playing outside, make sure they're ready for the weather. We'll also need a spare change of clothes just in case of accidents. Water Play: On hot summer days, we might break out the sprinkler or wading pool for some water play. I'll just need a permission slip from you before your child can join in on the fun. And if they need a swimsuit or towel, we'll let you know! Toys: Please don't send any toys from home with your child. We've got plenty to play with here! But if your child has a special toy they need to sleep with, that's totally fine. Just keep in mind that we're not responsible for any lost, stolen, or broken toys from home. And if your child damages any of our toys, we might need your help replacing them. Rest Period: All kids under 5 will need a little rest time during the day. They don't have to sleep, but they do need to be quiet and still. Older kids will have some quiet activities to do during this time, too. So try not to schedule any visits or pick-ups during this time, so we can all rest easy! I would love to help you with toilet training your child, and I believe that our collaboration is essential for it to be a success. We can use pull-ups provided by you and I suggest dressing your child in easy-to-remove clothing until they can undress and dress themselves. During toilet training, your child may require at least 5 complete changes of clothing, and any soiled clothing will be sent home in a plastic bag for you to replace the next day. On holidays and birthdays, we celebrate together and if you wish to bring a special treat for the children, please let me know in advance. As much as I prioritize caring for the children, I also involve them in cleaning up toys before meals and naps. Rest time is when I clean the house or occasionally with the children's help. I allow the children to watch Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network, and sometimes they get to pick a child-appropriate video to watch. In case of emergencies such as fire or power outage, we have fire extinguishers and flashlights available, and we will practice fire drills monthly to ensure that the children are prepared. If necessary, we will use non-perishable items in the kitchen if the power remains out for some time. In the event that the weather becomes too cold for the children, I will call you to pick up your child. If there are any changes to the policies, I will give you at least 2 weeks notice. In January, we will review and update the policy, contracts, consents, and forms if necessary. Please let me know in writing if there are any changes to your contact information or your child's immunizations. I understand the importance of confidentiality, and any information you provide to me will be kept private. Before sharing any information with outside parties, I will require you to sign a release form. " " "
